1. What’s a BIA?
    A Business Improvement Area, better known as a BIA, is a provincially legislated body made up of business owners. These businesses comprise an organization of individuals whose mandate is to promote, beautify, market and improve the areas within the boundaries of the BIA.
  2. Who manages the BIA?
    The BIA is managed by the DWBIA Board of Directors. Each member of the Board is elected by the membership and approved by the City of Windsor. The DWBIA has full and part-time employees who carry out the mandate of the Board of Directors.
  3. How is the DWBIA funded?
    All BIAs are self-funded, including the DWBIA. Any activities undertaken and promoted by the DWBIA are financed through a special levy applied to all members within the DWBIA’s commercial district.
  4. Can anyone become a member?
    If you own or operate a business within the boundaries of the DWBIA, you are automatically a member of the association. Your business must be located on commercially zoned property.
  5. How many members belong to the DWBIA?
    The DWBIA is comprised of more than 600 businesses/property owners and nearly 5,000 full and part-time employees. The combined BIA membership is likely one of largest employers in the City.
  6. How large is the DWBIA?
    We have (insert number) million square feet of physical space, of which approximately (insert number) million is commercial in nature and (insert number) million is residential.   7. Where do I park?
    There are 2,000+ parking spaces in the downtown core in a combination of on-street spaces, surface lots and parking garages, so there are plenty of spots to choose from. Find more information about how to Get Here.
  8. Where are the washrooms?
    Public washrooms can be found in the Visitor Information Centre on Park Street in front of City Hall and inside City Hall itself.
