The Downtown Windsor BIA (DWBIA) is thrilled to accept the Windsor Essex County Health Unit’s Organizational Responsibility Award, part of the WECHU’s Healthy Workplace Awards 2020.
“We’re so pleased to have been recognized for its commitment to support the health, safety and well-being of its community, in response to the pandemic,” says DWBIA Chair Brian Yeomans. “We’ve done our best to promote a positive public image for our businesses and workplaces in the downtown core.”
The DWBIA was recognized for its commitment to support the health, safety and well-being of its community, in response to the pandemic. The Organizational Social Responsibility Award also acknowledges that the DWBIA has promoted a positive public image for its 680 businesses and workplaces, and that it has gone above and beyond to support the entire community’s efforts in the reduction of the spread of COVID-19.
In a concerted and compassionate effort to help downtown Windsor businesses respond to the call to prevent the spread of COVID-19, the Downtown Windsor Business Improvement Association gathered together a solid set of reopening for rapid distribution, including the provision of Reopen & Reconnect Kits, which were free packages containing resource materials and safety supplies. As early as June 1, the DWBIA made these free safety supply packages and resources available to its entire membership. The packages included disposable masks, hand sanitizer, window clings, floor decals and a set of PSA posters. The DWBIA also provided Reopening Resource Materials in digital format on its website, which could be downloaded and printed.
The provision of materials and safety supplies, which were in extremely high demand and dangerously low supply at the time they were distributed, ensured that downtown businesses were supported and guided.
