County Bounty was born during the COVID-19 pandemic, May 2020.
During the pandemic, grocery shopping as we knew it became a fearful event, so ‘Click & Collect’ became the new normal for obtaining groceries safely. After patiently waiting two weeks to pick up our grocery order, my daughter and I would often become frustrated to discover that we received a small portion of our order with only a few fresh vegetables that were of low quality.
After weeks of eating mostly pasta & rice while watching the numbers on the scale begin to climb, I decided that I needed to get healthier by sourcing out my own vegetables. My niece was working at a greenhouse in Essex County where I was able to find a great wholesale supplier. The challenge however, was that if I wantedtwo cucumbers, I had to buy a whole box which I was willing to do in order to get some high quality produce. The bonus was that it allowed me to share the bounty with my family & friends and any extra produce was donated to the “Street Help” kitchen. This rich experience of sharing the produce brought attention to the fact that everyone was in need of such a service. Thus, COUNTY BOUNTY was born!
COUNTY BOUNTY has brought me back to my childhood roots. I was raised eating from a bountiful garden full of fresh organic produce. My first jobs were spent working on neighbouring fruit & vegetable farms ranging from tomatoes to potatoes and everything in between.
COUNTY BOUNTY now provides you with a safe, time saving and locally sourced alternative to bring healthy food right to your front door.
I grew up having a ‘milk man’ and now… you have a ‘veggie lady’.
Enjoy your fresh, local COUNTY BOUNTY!
