Windsor’s FIREFEST is back with its 10th edition showcasing firefighting skills at the Riverfront Festival Plaza.
1. The FIREFIT Western Ontario Regional takes place September 9th & 10th. The FireFit Championships tour various cities across Canada each season. Windsor is the last stop on the 2023 schedule prior to the Canadian Nationals. The competition is based on firefighting tasks commonly performed in emergency situations. The course is very demanding, made up of tasks performed while on the job like running up 5 stories, drawing and aiming a fully loaded fire hose, carrying victims, and more – all while wearing full firefighting equipment.
2. The T2B RESCUE RELAYS (Community Obstacle Course) takes place September 8th. Local businesses are invited to sign-up to embark on the ultimate challenge!
3. The 5K Run with First Responders takes place September 9th. Resident runners are invited to register for the five-kilometre (5K) route along Riverside Drive.
4. The Tug Across the River takes place September 9th. Windsor vs. Detroit! The Tug Across the River will see 30 firefighters in each country pulling a 1,500-metre rope attached to buoys from the middle of the river to their respective side. First to touch wins!
