JOB POSTING #: 2021-0392 POSTING PERIOD: Friday, November 19, 2021 at 8:30 AM to Thursday, December 2, 2021at 4:30 PM DEPARTMENT: Recreation & Culture UNION: Non-Union POSITION STATUS: Regular Full-Time # OF POSITIONS: 1 RATE OF PAY: $110,122.68 to $133, 855.38 Annually SHIFT WORK REQ'D: Evenings & Weekends as required DUTIES: Reporting to the Executive Director of Recreation & Culture or designate, this position will be responsible for planning, organizing, coordinating and directing all activities, personnel and contracts required for the successful operation of the complex as well as off site indoor and outdoor municipal swimming pools and Gino Marcus Community Complex; Participates as a member of the Senior Leadership Team of the Recreation & Culture Department in the development of strategies to achieve objectives and problem solving for issues affecting the department; Provides direct leadership, training, supervision, discipline, and evaluation of supervisory staff, with overall responsibility for part-time and full-time staff; Prepares, plans, recommends, implements and monitors a detailed program and facility budget; Oversees a comprehensive training program; Promotes the use of the facilities to maximize utilization and negotiate rental agreements; Pursues grant and sponsorship opportunities to enhance program and event delivery while establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with community organizations, interdepartmental staff, contractors, tenants, and the general public; Liaises with aquatic clubs and provincial and national aquatic sport governing bodies and represents the department and/or city in communication functions and/or media relations as it relates to aquatic services; Chairs or participates on departmental, corporate or external committees as warranted. Report writing and making presentations at Windsor City Council and other public meetings will be required; Responsible for ensuring compliance with other corporate policies and applicable legislation. Will perform Occupational Health & Safety duties as outlined in the Corporation’s Health and Safety Program. Will perform other related duties as required. QUALIFICATIONS: Must have a University degree in Recreation, Human Kinetics, Physical Education, Public Administration, Business Administration or related field or Ontario Ministry of Education equivalency and a minimum of six (6) years of experience in a senior management position of a public assembly facility or major multi-purpose complex OR Must have a community college diploma in Recreation, Business Administration or related field or Ontario Ministry of Education equivalency and over ten (10) years experience in a senior management position of a public assembly facility or major multi-purpose complex. Must have previous supervisory experience in a unionized and non unionized work environment; Must have working knowledge of the Microsoft Suite of Products; Must possess Aquatic Management Training (AMT) acquired through the Lifesaving Society or be able to obtain certificate within one year of commencement in the position; Must have knowledge of appropriate legislation and regulatory standards as they relate to the building management, pools and Water Park operations; Must have proven oral and written communication skills; Should have knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, its regulations and knowledge of the hazards associated with the work. Must have the ability to travel to off site locations in a timely and expedient manner as required. If method of travel is by vehicle, a current valid and lawful Driver’s License is required in accordance with the Highway Traffic Act and must provide a driver’s abstract as a condition of employment; Will be required to complete and remain current as per the requirements of the Corporation’s Management Certificate Program. Progression through the Art of Supervision Program Certificate or a supervisory program of a similar nature is considered an asset. Advanced courses in Facility and Business Management, Personnel, Labour Relations and Planning Municipal Management considered an asset. Knowledge and background in municipal policy and procedure development and implementation considered an asset. Working knowledge of C.L.A.S.S./ActiveNet computer software programme considered an asset. Lifesaving Society Auditor Certification considered an asset. The physical demands analysis associated with this job indicates a light level of work.
