Head, Exhibitions and Collections Reporting to: Executive Director, Art Windsor Essex Location: Windsor, ON Hours: 35 hours per week Salary range: $60-65k The Role: We are looking for a passionate art lover who thrives in a vibrant and creative work environment to manage AWE’s art collection and coordinate our diverse exhibitions and collections installation through to de-installation. The successful candidate will coordinate and partner with artists, technicians, curators, staff, and other relevant stakeholders to scope, prepare and implement all in house and offsite projects drawing from permanent collections and touring exhibitions including supporting the publishing activities. Main Responsibilities: Oversees the execution of onsite and offsite exhibitions In collaboration with Head, Programs and Projects, curate exhibitions as assigned, developing exhibition proposals and conducting curatorial research related to the collection Work with staff to identify and build relationships in the Windsor community and beyond, to create meaningful community partnerships to support the success of AWE activities Facilitates the purchase and donation of works of art and assists in establishing priorities for the Collection Reviews AWE’s Collection, and develops a collection plan aligned with the strategic plan and collecting policies, working with external consultants, scholars, and curators to make recommendations for accession, deaccession, and identifying future growth opportunities for the Collection Conduct lectures, talks, tours and other presentations as assigned, representing AWE at gallery and community functions to develop positive relationships and contacts Identify funding opportunities and prepare funding applications, and other communications as assigned Supervise the Senior Preparator, Assistant Preparator/Conservator and Casual Preparators, as well as grant-funded contract positions, volunteers, interns, and co-op students as required, coordinating the recruitment process and training of casual staff with the Senior Preparator As a member of the management team, participate in long-term planning and management of the organization, including DEI, decolonization, and other community-driven transformational efforts Qualifications: 3+ years experience managing exhibitions and related programs 2+ years experience overseeing staff or volunteers Bachelor’s Degree in visual arts or related field, master’s degree preferred Exceptional communication skills (written and verbal) How to Apply: Please send your CV and a statement of interest to: Thomas Boucher at [email protected] AWE is an Equal Employment Opportunity Employer.
