Stellantis is searching for an Actuators & Sensors – EDM Gearbox and Gear Reducers Engineer. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading design and development of their electric actuators and sensors with the ability of developing clean sheet designs as well as proposing solutions for quality/warranty, cost reduction, increased capability, and vehicle architectural changes. The position will require the individual to be able to train other technical experts in their discipline. The candidate will also be required to create, develop and maintain best common practice technical infrastructure documents. Job responsibilities include but not limited to: Design & optimization of the automatic transmission and driveline electric actuators and sensors Develop technical requirements for electric actuators and sensors and subsystems of conventional electric drive modules, automatic and hybrid transmissions and drivelines Author and maintain engineering best practice documents for electric actuators and sensors Evaluate designs to the engineering best practice documents Support DFMEAs development and assess designs for failure modes robustness Support development of tools, test procedures and acceptance criteria for electric drive modules, transmission and driveline electro-mechanical components including actuator and sensor components Collaborate appropriate design detailing, VSA, and CAE activities for design updates and or new designs Work with the stakeholders (design, suppliers and manufacturing) to ensure that the design meets best practice requirements and meet customer requirements Support manufacturing on emerging issues Root cause warranty issues and determine effective solutions Conduct root cause analysis of component failures and identify a solution Collaborate with transmission systems group to address and support any failures using the appropriate tools and processes Interface with other groups such as vehicle and electrical / control engineering to address all interface issues both mechanical, electrical, control and calibration Work with the suppliers and manufacturing specifying achievable long-term capable tolerances as well as define critical features and related tolerances Work closely with electrical and control team to ensure robust product design Evaluate products for potential failure modes, including safety related function, fail safe operation and diagnostics Generate and support implementation of cost reduction ideas Develop and provide training to design and engineer electro-mechanical components (actuators and sensors) Provide guidance and direction to suppliers through resourcing, process or sourcing changes, and development using the appropriate change management system FCA Canada Inc. is committed to providing accommodation for people with accessibility needs due to disabilities in all aspects of the hiring process. Basic Qualifications: Master's degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited institution, or ABET equivalent Minimum EIGHT (8) years of experience Minimum SIX (6) years of proven experience in electro-mechanical components (electric actuators and sensors) Ability to work with suppliers and manufacturing to ensure FTQ (first time quality) target is achieved Excellent knowledge of CAE analysis including mechanical, electrical and magnetic analysis for actuators and sensors Working knowledge of all transmission and driveline architectures (CVT, DDCT, manual, planetary automatic, hybrids, EDMs, etc.) Demonstrated ability to set technical direction for specific instances Lead decoupled development or ability to advance the state of the art in the specific area of expertise Ability to coach and train senior product engineers Excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to present to director level management Achievement of a minimum of 35 points on the Qualification Scoring Table (Education + Incremental) Competent in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GDT) Functional knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project) and Google G Suite products (Gmail, Sheets, Slides, etc.) Excellent work ethic, organization skills, and communication skills Legally eligible to work in Canada Preferred Qualifications: Ph.D. in Engineering with 10 years' experience in specialty Working knowledge of NX/Teamcenter Experience in solenoids, wiring and connectors Design for Six Sigma certification Stellantis
