Invest WindsorEssex’s Small Business & Entrepreneurship Centre is seeking outgoing, enthusiastic , qualified candidates for the position of Digital Service Squad Advisor . This is a unique opportunity to support the growth of one of the region’s most innovative economic development programs. The Digital Main Street (DMS) program is the first of its kind globally and has experienced excellent traction since its launch in June 2016. The Ontario Digital Main Street Initiative expands the previously existing DMS program developed in partnership by the City of Toronto and the Toronto Association of Business Improvement Areas (TABIA). Thanks to a renewed investment in the DMS Ontario Grants Program (OGP) from the provincial government, many more of the province’s small businesses can take full advantage of digital technologies and e-commerce platforms to increase their revenue and create jobs. The four main components of the DMS OGP include a Digital Transformation Program, Digital Service Squad Program, access to support, and digital training. For more information about DMS, visit digitalmaintstreet.ca. Since 2019, the Small Business & Entrepreneurship Centre has deployed a DSS to support hundreds of businesses in Windsor and Essex County. The DSS Advisor is a key contributor to the success and growth of the program. The DSS Advisor will attract and maintain small business clients across various sectors and commercial areas in Windsor and Essex County to provide in-person and virtual advisory services. The focus of the role is to work one-on-one with main street businesses to provide the following services. 1. On-boarding Assistance · Conduct pre-business visit research to best understand the community/business improvement area (BIA) and businesses · Work with the municipality/BIA to setup appointments and/or go door-to-door to onboard brick-and-mortar small businesses to the DMS platform · Walk-through the onboarding survey with business owners and use appreciative inquiry methods to best understand their business goals and how digital tools/technology can assist them in meeting their goals · Assist the business in staying in touch with DMS by subscribing to the e-newsletter and social channels 2. Advisory Services · Once business has been on-boarded to the Digital Main Street platform, review Digital Assessment and Recommendations with business owner · Assist business owner in identifying first priorities and first digital tools/technology to activate · Review vendor recommendations made through the platform and lead business owner to relevant deals/discounts on the platform · Promote other DMS services/programs and support business in applying for Digital Transformation Grant 3. Activation/Implementation Services · Activate and implement free, easy-to-use digital tools and technologies · Provide resources available through secondary sources to help business owner learn more about a particular tool that has been activated or subject matter of interest 4. Reporting and Feedback · Complete field notes and report weekly to DSS Administrator · Attend Team Meetings as set out by the DSS Administrator · Ensure all data is accurately and completely entered within the CRMs (HubSpot) for both DMS and the Small Business & Entrepreneurship Centre 5. Special Projects · Lead and implement special projects and/or community-wide initiatives (Google 360 photography) · Work with DSS Administrator to ensure successful activation of initiatives and increased Digital Main Street engagement · Assist business owners to apply for Digital Transformation Grant and develop and implement Digital Transformation Plan 6. Marketing · Assist in growth of all DMS social media channels, as well as curating content and photos · Create and deliver presentations on DMS to business groups and community partners The DSS Member may be required to attend workshops and events related to DMS in order to communicate the benefits of the program to business owners and to on-board them to the platform. Qualifications · Strong communications skills (written and verbal) · Excellent interpersonal and relationship building/relationship management skills · Excellent organizational and time management skills · Experience in a sales role and/or marketing environment · Ability to travel and work independently or remotely with local businesses · Familiarity with digital technologies for small business (e.g., web, social media, e-commerce) · Experience with basic software and collaboration tools such as Microsoft Office Suite, Slack, Zoom, and content management systems · Previous experience with online and offline marketing is considered an asset · Previous experience working with small business is considered an asset Job Types: Full-time, Fixed term contract Contract length: 21 months Salary: $22.00 per hour Benefits: On-site parking Schedule: 8 hour shift Day shift Monday to Friday Experience: sales/marketing: 1 year (preferred) small business: 1 year (preferred) digital technology: 1 year (preferred) Willingness to travel: 25% (preferred) Application deadline: 2022-07-08
