Minimum Qualifications 6 years of payroll/tax experience Knowledge of Canadian federal and multi-provincial payroll legislation, employment standards, taxation rules and compliance and year-end reporting in Canadian provinces Understanding of Workday HCM and Payroll Familiarity with ADP Payroll Experience with CRA Revenue Quebec and other government agencies Experience with stock purchase plans and cross-border employment pay cycles Canadian Payroll Certification (PCP or CPM) Preferred Qualifications 10 years of payroll/tax experience Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or relevant field Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite, specifically Excel Job Summary The Senior Canadian Payroll Tax Specialist is responsible for all taxation and payroll-related processing for team members in Canada. This individual will own the Canadian payroll tax processes and will mentor and develop team members. Responsibilities Prepare and process biweekly payroll for team members across Canada Audit payroll and tax information and distribute payments to team members and third-party vendors appropriately Process regular commission and bonus payments along with garnishments, return on equity (ROE), remittances, overpayments, etc. Handle separation payments and ROEs Process quarterly and year-end tax documentation for employees and government reporting Manage and oversee year-end processing and reporting for W2, T4, T2200s and other government reporting as needed Audit, prepare and manage ROEs, EHT, WSIB, WCB, RRSP and other payroll-related items Process taxable benefits such as gifts and awards, ESPP, SOP and RSUs Manage all month-end and year-end reporting processes, including the review and recording of payroll-related journal entries, reconciliation of payroll-related accounts and all payroll-related remittances and tax account reconciliations Act as primary contact with government agencies in Canada and the US for tax account setups, remittances and reconciliations Prepare reports through compiling summaries of earnings, taxes, deductions, leave, disability and non-taxable wages Answer team member payroll questions and maintain information confidentiality Process wage garnishment payments and ensure they are entered and maintained accurately in Workday Prepare and review quarterly/annual wage and tax reports for accuracy Resolve payroll discrepancies and irregularities Support internal and external audits, as needed Handle integrations into ADP from Workday Facilitate meetings for business process changes and special projects Act as a key point of contact for special projects, earning code/deduction code changes, Workday updates, testing and any business process changes Ensure compliance with payroll, legal, tax and finance policies and procedures Identify and make recommendations for process improvements Who We Are Detroit-based Rocket Companies is a family of businesses providing simple, fast and trusted digital solutions for complex transactions.
