FCA Canada/Stellantis is searching for a Castings and Machining for Automatic Transmissions and Drivelines Expert. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading design and development of their castings and structural components (with the ability of developing clean sheet designs as well as proposing solutions for quality/warranty, cost reduction, increased capability, and vehicle architectural changes. These positions will require the individual to be able to train other technical experts in their discipline. The candidate will also be required to create, develop and maintain best common practice technical infrastructure documents. Main Objectives: Design & optimization of the automatic transmission and driveline aluminum structures such as case & bell housing Develop technical requirements for aluminum and subsystems of conventional automatic and hybrid transmissions and drivelines Author & maintain Engineering Best Practice documents for structures Evaluate designs to the "engineering best practice" documents Support DFMEAs development and assess designs for failure modes robustness Support development of Tools, Test Procedures and Acceptance Criteria for transmission and driveline structure components Collaborate appropriate Design Detailing, VSA, and CAE activities for design updates and or new designs Work with the stakeholders (casting & machining engineers) to ensure that the design meets best practice requirements and will perform analysis to check for mold flow, shrinkage and porosity Support manufacturing on emerging issues Root cause warranty issues and determine effective solutions Conduct root cause analysis of component failures and identify a solution Collaborate with transmission systems group to address and support any failures using the appropriate tools and processes Interface with other groups such as vehicle & engine engineering to address all interface issues (RFOB to case/ bell housing, cooling tube routing, wire harness bosses, etc.) Work with the machining plants on specifying achievable long-term capable tolerances as well as define critical zones for porosity & related tolerances. He/she will address any porosity related issues on the machined parts and ensure a First Time Quality that meets the plant requirement Generate and support implementation of cost reduction ideas Provide guidance and direction to suppliers through resourcing, process or sourcing changes, and development using the appropriate change management system FCA Canada Inc. is committed to providing accommodation for people with accessibility needs due to disabilities in all aspects of the hiring process. Basic Qualifications: Master's degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited institution, or ABET equivalent Minimum EIGHT (8) years of experience Minimum SIX (6) years of proven experience in large castings (case, bell housings) Ability to work with casting supplier to ensure FTQ (first time quality) target is achieved Excellent knowledge of casting process, magma flow analysis and solidification models Working knowledge of all transmission and driveline architectures (CVT, DDCT, manual, planetary automatic, hybrids, EDMs, etc.) Demonstrated ability to set technical direction for specific instances Lead decoupled development or ability to advance the state of the art in the specific area of expertise Ability to coach and train Sr. Technical Specialists Excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to present to director level management Achievement of a minimum of 50 points on the Qualification Scoring Table (Education + Incremental) Competent in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GDT) Functional knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project) and Google G Suite products (Gmail, Sheets, Slides, etc.) Excellent work ethic, organization skills, and communication skills Legally eligible to work in Canada Preferred Qualifications: Ph.D. in Engineering with 10 years' experience in specialty Working knowledge of NX/Teamcenter Design for Six Sigma certification
