Job Summary: A Service Desk Technician in a company that manufactures automotive parts typically plays a crucial role in maintaining the IT infrastructure and providing technical support to ensure smooth operation. In a manufacturing context, it’s particularly important for the Service Desk Technician to understand the specific software and hardware used in production, such as ERP systems, manufacturing execution systems (MES), and other specialized tools. This knowledge helps them to provide more effective support and contribute to the overall efficiency and productivity of the company. Job Responsibilities: Your supervisor may from time to time ask you to perform other related duties not specifically included in this job description. This job’s key responsibilities include: Technical Support: Responding to and resolving technical issues raised by employees through various channels (phone, email, ticketing systems). Troubleshooting hardware and software problems related to desktops, laptops, printers, and other peripherals. System Maintenance: Performing routine maintenance tasks on computer systems and networks to ensure optimal performance. Installing, configuring, and updating software applications and operating systems. Network Support: Assisting in the setup, configuration, and maintenance of the company’s local area network (LAN) and wide area network (WAN). Troubleshooting network connectivity issues and ensuring reliable internet access. User Account Management: Creating, managing, and deleting user accounts in various systems, including email, enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, and other software platforms. Ensuring appropriate access controls and security measures are in place. Documentation and Reporting: Maintaining detailed records of technical issues, resolutions, and user requests in a ticketing system. Providing regular reports on common issues, trends, and potential improvements to IT processes. Job Qualifications: Education: Associate’s Degree or Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field is preferred. Certifications: CompTIA A+: Validates foundational IT skills. Microsoft Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator Associate: Demonstrates skills in Windows environments. ITIL Foundation: Provides knowledge of IT service management best practices. CompTIA Network+: Demonstrates knowledge of networking concepts Technical Skills: Proficiency in Windows and Linux operating systems. Knowledge of network fundamentals (LAN, WAN, VPN). Experience with hardware troubleshooting (desktops, laptops, printers). Familiarity with enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems and manufacturing execution systems (MES). Software Skills: Experience with remote desktop support tools and ticketing systems. Understanding of cybersecurity principles and best practices. Basic scripting or programming knowledge (e.g., PowerShell, Python) can be beneficial. Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical abilities to diagnose and resolve technical issues efficiently. Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively. Technical Support Experience: Previous experience (2-3 years) in a technical support or help desk role. Hands-on experience with IT hardware and software troubleshooting. Why ABC?
