Our client, a leading Global Tier 1 Automotive manufacturer, based in Windsor, is seeking an experienced Senior Quality Engineer for their manufacturing facility.Job Summary:The Quality Engineer will be pivotal in establishing and enhancing the quality infrastructure, processes, and standards at the client’s Windsor production plant. This role involves leveraging existing frameworks and best practices from other divisions while adapting them to meet the unique needs and challenges of the Windsor facility. By developing quality processes and solutions, this individual will play a crucial role in ensuring products and operations adhere to the highest industry standards. Additionally, this role includes hands-on responsibilities in the quality lab and some supplier quality engineering tasks.Key Responsibilities:Lead the development of quality infrastructure and processes, incorporating statistical methods and tools to enhance manufacturing processes and product quality.Maintain and manage Quality Gates, enforce GP12 Early Production Containment procedures, and oversee CARE stationsAct as the main quality contact for customers, addressing and resolving quality issues promptly, and fostering strong relationships.Engage in Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) activities, supporting the Engineering Department in developing Control Plans, PFMEAs, and PPAP submissions.Oversee plant lab operations, including setup and daily activities, ensuring alignment with quality control processes and plant objectives.Perform mechanical, physical, and chemical tests on raw materials, in-process materials, and finished products, using precision measuring instruments and equipment.Record and analyze test data to determine compliance with specifications and calibrate and maintain laboratory equipment to ensure accuracy and reliability.Drive continuous improvement projects, utilizing tools such as Six Sigma, 5S, and Lean manufacturing principles to enhance quality and efficiency.Conduct thorough data analysis and reporting to identify root causes and implement corrective actions for process and product issues.Ensure compliance with international standards (IATF 16949, AIAG, VDA6.3), conducting regular audits and preparing for external audits to maintain certifications.Develop and deliver training programs to ensure team members are proficient in quality standards and procedures.Collaborate with suppliers to ensure quality requirements are met, reviewing and approving supplier PPAPs, and enhancing supplier performance through working with suppliers on quality issues, monitoring supplier performance and conducting regular reviews.Collaborate with other divisions to understand and integrate best practices in quality management, ensuring consistency and high standards across the organization.Reporting Structure:For daily plant operations and immediate quality issues, report directly to the Plant Manager.For strategic quality alignment and coordination across all divisions, report to the VP of Operations.KPIs:PPM: 0 Customer; 0 Internal; 0 VendorReduction / continuous improvement on FFT, Customer Complaints, Cost of Failure (Internal and External)Successful maintenance of IATF 16949 and other relevant certificationsTimely completion of APQP and PPAP submissionsReduction or elimination of non-value added GP-12 processesCompetencies/Behaviors:Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to quality improvement.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working effectively with all levels of the organization, customers, suppliers and other external partners.Self-motivated and able to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic, cross-functional environment.Commitment to continuous learning and improvementHands-on approach with a willingness to get things done and deliverQualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field; Master’s degree preferred.5-7 years of experience in Quality Engineering within the automotive industry, with a proven track record in a senior role.Certified Quality Engineer (ASQ) designation or equivalent.In-depth knowledge of quality systems and standards (IATF 16949, AIAG).Proficiency in statistical analysis, SPC, GD&T, and quality tools such as PFMEA and PPAP.Excellent organizational and project management skills.Willingness to travel globally as required.Job Type: Full-timePay: $100,000.00-$115,000.00 per yearBenefits:Dental careExtended health careVision careAbility to commute/relocate:Windsor, ON: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)Education:AEC / DEP or Skilled Trade Certificate (preferred)Experience:automotive quality: 7 years (preferred)Work Location: In person
