The Electric Drive Modules (EDMs) System Engineering and Architecture is responsible to plan, coordinate, carry out the product analysis (design / testing activities) for Electric Drive Module functions to successfully achieve the main Performance attributes for all types of Electrified Propulsions (BEVs). This includes the balancing of Inverter, Motor and gearbox performance in most efficient and cost effective solutions. In this role, the Engineer will be responsible to define and develop the engineering requirements for EDM systems using analysis tools and process. Also, this role will provide technical assistance Electric Drive Module Design, manufacturing, and assembly aspects. The eMotors and EDM Systems Engineer will coordinate EDMs prototype build and dyno test activities. The successful candidate will perform analysis and design in the EDM system design consisting of E-Motor, Power Electronics, Gearbox, Control System, and related EDM systems. Furthermore, the eMotors and EDM Systems Engineer will make recommendations to optimize system performance, while meeting the BEV applications requirements using analytical tools and methods. Resolves complex technical issues utilizing contributions from a team environment. The successful candidate will stay abreast of new EDMs technology including benchmarking and lead of EDMs architecture analysis activities. The eMotors and EDM Systems Engineer will participate in EDMs technical roadmap and develop different EDMs Architecture concepts to meet product requirements (performance, cost, quality and schedule), diagnostic needs, environmental requirements, and applicable industry standards. Basic Qualifications: Bachelors of Science in Mechanical, Electrical, or equivalent Engineering degree Minimum THREE (3) years of Electric Propulsion System Engineering and Architecture (subsystem and system levels) for different electrified propulsion architecture and applications (BEVs) Minimum FIVE (5) years of automotive analysis, development or testing experience in Powertrain and Driveline components or subsystems Experience in the use of analytical modeling and simulation tools for design optimization including MATLAB/Simulink or other system and ability to contribute to EDM / vehicle system concept development and modeling for BEV applications Experience in designing, manufacturing and assembly of different EDM and Electric Drive Systems (e.g., 2in1 EDM (E-Motor + Gearbox), 3in1 EDM (E-Motor + Inverter + Gearbox), Co-axle EDMs, Offset EDMs, etc.) Experience of electrified HW and SW development processes Knowledge of different electric machine types and forms Knowledge in EDM/electric drive functions and schematic design (e.g., EMC, layout guideline, functional safety, product liability) Experience of EDM/electric drive design (e.g., mechanical, thermal, and NVH analysis and testing) Experience in EDMs Design for Manufacturing and EDMs Design for Assembly (DFMEA, PFEMA, DRBTR, DRBFM, etc.) Experience in EDM/electric drive prototyping, development and testing Experience in defining, deploying, and controlling the hardware requirements for hardware integration Excellent communication skills and demonstrated ability to work both independently and with others Legally eligible to work in Canada Preferred Qualifications: Masters or Ph.D. degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Equivalent Engineering degree Automotive product development processes and project management Excellent problem solving techniques and analytical ability Excellent leadership skills Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) Knowledgeable in use of Teamcenter with experience in NX in a production release environment Stellantis
