The Battery Mechatronics CoE / Subject Matter Expert leads product design and development activities related to electrical and mechatronic hardware components used in hybrid/electric vehicle applications. This position entails working closely with powertrain controls engineers and electrical and electronics suppliers to lead battery pack power distribution design and release activities. The Battery Mechatronics CoE / Subject Matter Expert will be responsible to ensure that best practice design features and processes are implemented for manufacturing, assembly, reliability, etc. and develop/refine corporate battery electrical requirements and specifications. Additionally, the Battery Mechatronics CoE / Subject Matter Expert will be responsible for the creation and maintenance of documentation outlining best practices supporting FCA internal continuous improvement initiatives and the development of product technology roadmaps, for battery management electronics & electro-mechanical sensors and power distribution components. The Battery Mechatronics CoE / Subject Matter Expert will also lead electrical design reviews (i.e. Schematics, WCCA, DFMEA, ME/EE interface), and support hardware validation (wiring harness design and setup, Hardware-in-the-Loop testing and report, data recording and analysis), circuit protection simulation and root cause analysis. The Battery Mechatronics CoE / Subject Matter Expert will work with product release teams to solve application team issues during product design and testing. Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university Minimum EIGHT (8) years electrical hardware design release experience including circuit protection and power center and distribution components Experience with and comprehension of analog circuit designs Experience with automotive sensors including current, pressure, temperature as well as circuit protection devices including fuses, contactors, bussing Familiar with circuit protection and current sizing simulation tools and techniques Strong understanding of high voltage power electronic circuits Strong knowledge and usage of high voltage lab devices Good understanding of Hardware-in-the-Loop testing DVP&R and DFMEA creation and execution experience Good analytical and problem solving skills Understanding of electrical engineering protocols and standards Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment Ability to interface with key customers, cross-functional teams, and all levels of personnel/management Strong verbal and written communication skills Able to manage multiple responsibilities Legally eligible to work in Canada Our benefits reflects the FCA commitment to helping you reach your personal and professional goals.
