Windsor, Corporation of the City of

Reporting to the Manager of Culture & Events, this position will be responsible for the research, coordination, delivery, marketing and promotion of cultural development activities, projects and programs for the City of Windsor including the organization of various cultural sector development events in partnership with external organizations, agencies and internal associates. Supports the implementation of the Municipal Cultural Master Plan and other cultural initiatives relating to the Community Strategic Plan and City Council priorities in consultation with the public, advisory committees and other organizations as appropriate; Will facilitate the development and implementation of cultural/heritage activities/services such as: cultural summits, periodic issue forums, cultural networking events, capacity building workshops and public meetings related to current and future art or cultural needs within the community. Oversees and supervises the day to day functional and operational requirements of the Willistead Manor Complex including but not limited to all relations concerning staffing (full-time; part-time; students; volunteers and grant staff); external service contractors and other City departments as required. Budget responsibilities will include monitoring revenues and expenses and making recommendations for adjustments; Will liaise with Corporate Department for capital projects as required; Ongoing research and report writing such as preparation of grant and funding opportunities where applicable. Will perform Occupational Health & Safety duties as outlined in the Corporation’s Health and Safety Program. Will perform other related duties as required. QUALIFICATIONS:  Must have a University Degree in Arts, Culture, Heritage, Communications or Recreation or Ontario Ministry of Education equivalency and a minimum of (1) one year of experience in environments related to heritage/culture;  OR Must have a Community College Diploma in Arts, Culture, Heritage, Communications or Recreation or Ontario Ministry of equivalency and a minimum of (2) two years of experience in environments related to heritage/culture;  OR Must have an Ontario Secondary School Diploma with (1) one year of additional post secondary courses in Arts, Culture, Heritage, Communications or Recreation or Ontario Ministry of Education equivalency and a minimum of (4) four years or experience in environments related to heritage/culture;  Must be able to provide leadership in building strategic partnerships in support of both corporate and developmental initiatives.  Must possess a demonstrated high level of understanding, knowledge and skills in cultural activities.  Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite;  Must be able to work with minimum supervision.  Must have the ability to travel to off site locations in a timely and expedient manner as required. If method of travel is by vehicle, a current valid and lawful Driver's Licence is required in accordance with the Highway Traffic Act and must provide a driver’s abstract as a condition of employment.
