Responsibilities for a Full Time WAREHOUSE GENERAL LABOURER in a meat packing / slaughterhouse include:
• Lifting / moving 20-80 pounds regularly throughout a shift
• The position starts in the cooler for the first few weeks of training in the role and then additional responsibilities of working on the kill floor (totalling 13-14 hours/week) are added to the role which will include working with a hand knife to trim animal parts
• This role involves working in the warehouse moving items from the conveyor to the skid and then into the cooler (dress in layers) as well as meat trimming and the clean up / sterilization of the job site including cutting tools and work space
• Other duties as assigned
Required Experience for a Full Time WAREHOUSE GENERAL LABOURER in a meat packing / slaughterhouse includes:
• MUST have previous work experience lifting/moving 20-80 pounds throughout a work shift
• Must have steel toed shoes/boots
• Must be able to get to the job site – NOT on a bus route
• Must be able to work irregular hours per below
Hours and Compensation for a Full Time WAREHOUSE GENERAL LABOURER:
• Monday – Friday 35-40 hours/week
o Monday working a 3-4 hour shift (8:30am start),
o Tues/Wed/Thurs working an 8-12 hour shift (5:30am start),
o Friday working 6 hours (5:30am start)
• Pay Rate of $18/hour to start with incremental $0.25 pay increases as you improve your skills (up to $19/hour within the first 6-12 months)
• Benefits provided after 1 year
• 2 weeks of vacation after 1 year of employment plus a 2 week unpaid shutdown at Christmas
